It is definitely on my list to add descriptions to these headers. Someday.

This was taken at sunset, Fourth of July 2009 at Elliott Bay Marina. Ivar’s declined to sponsor the fireworks on Elliott Bay this year, citing the many fireworks displays in the region. When they first sponsored the fireworks back in the 60s, they took over when the City of Seattle said they could no longer afford the cost. Now, the folks at Ivar’s say they will look to contribute to the community in other ways. We’ll miss the display on Elliott Bay, but it will be interesting to see where they put their service dollars and attention in the future.
The island of Kauai is at the top of the Hawaiian archipelago. Kauai is the oldest of the islands you can visit – only Nihau is older, but access there is restricted. This was taken at Poipu, the south end of Kauai, on Keoniloa Beach. The weather is more reliable here, but the north end is more lush and tropical. If you find yourself in Poipu, Puka Dog is not to be missed.
